To
the memory my hero Peter Brock.
The Supercar Experience team owned by V8 privateer Mal Rose has
been saddened by the loss of Peter Brock.
As a life time racing hero to Mal, he will be sadly missed.
He has touched a lot of people in many ways and was a inspiration
in the creation on my Hot Laps Experience business.
As we all try to ( 'Live our dreams' ) as Peter would say, I have
a memory that I will cherish for ever.
When I made my debut to Bathurst in my own team in 1996 I was
fighting for the Privateer Cup ( second in class & 12th outright
) when only two laps before I would jump back into my VS Commodore
for the final stint to home, my co-driver crashed into the wall
between the dipper and forest elbow.
I was devastated and went back to my workshop ( where I lived
as well ) to ponder over what might have been.
A couple of days latter my phone rang early in the morning to
a call that went...
"Hi Mal. This is Peter Brock. I'm
wondering how you are & don't to give up trying because of
the co-drivers crash."
He would ask me several times 'How are you really?' and I would
reply OK , however he didn't realise just how much this meant
to me - just to get a call from my childhood hero!
The conversation lasted for some time as Peter & I shared
some great memories & times in the race.
To this day Peter Brock will always be my hero in motorsport as
a true gentleman and a friend - someone who would take the time
to call a privateer to encourage me to succeed in my chosen sport.
To the family & friends of Peter Brock our
sincere thoughts and prayers are with you.

footnote:
In 1997 Mal & Kevin Burton were 4th
privateer and 12th outright, in 1998 Mal would win the Privateers
Cup and 10th outright
